How I started my path down the Game Development Road

Three years ago I started my first step into game development by going to Devry University. I went because my son was just born and at that time I realized a Security Guard's salary could never give my son a future so I looked around for options and here came Devry University in shinnying armor. Must say it was the best choice I made other than marrying my wife and I have no regrets with my choice. About  year 1/2 into my degree I came across Unity3D and it was just released for free so I thought why not I have a C++ background and it looks simple. From there it was love at first sight and since then I been working on my current Game Omega Sector.

OMEGA SECTOR

Now when I started the game looked nothing like it does today or even plays the same. I started with a simple tank that could rotate it's turret and fire shells I made in 3dsMax. Not to mention I used a third person controller script I made to move the tank. If only I knew the true power of Unity3D , I would have been BLOWN away by it. So as I'am developing for Unity3d I was also looking for work and there is work out there and I have gotten more interviews in my field than any Mcky D's job or Jack in the Box, or wal-mart. Not that I got jobs instantly I still had to work to even get past first interview rounds and I'am still looking for a job. My first title was 8th Legion it was suppose to be a continuation of 7th Legion but I decided that I should create my own game with my own lore and gameplay rather than ripping off a old game I played a long time ago. Thus was born Stardust Empires At War which at the time didn't realize that Stardust was taken as a name so about 6 months ago I changed the game's name to Omega Sector and from there I been developing the game. I primarily work in my spare time when I'am not doing odd jobs or helping out with family affairs.
